The Pepper Bird Eye, or Thai pepper (Thai : พริก ขี้ ; Litt. Pimple of mouse) is a pepper , a Cultivar of the species Capsicum annuum, present in Southeast Asia. It is sometimes confused with a similar pepper of the species Capsicum frutecens, the cultivar 'Siling Labuyo'. This pepper is also present in India, in Meghalaya,Assam and Kerala, we find it in fact in Many dishes from Kerala cuisine. This cultivar is also found in rural areas of Sri Lanka, where it sometimes replaces the green chilli.
It is used in the gastronomy of Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Indonesia and Vietnam.
