The name of gender comes from Latin Stella, the star. It refers to the five indoor petals which give the corolla the appearance of a ten -ray star. The epithet of the botanical name Media, " Middle ", refers to the line of hair which runs alternately on one side then on the other of each interview with the round stem , this characteristic allowing it to be distinguished from toxic plants which love the same environments, such as Red Mouron2. It is sometimes called Mouron Blanc or Mouron des Oiseaux. This vernacular name comes from the seeds of the plant, much appreciated by birds. That of Morgeline is a Syncope of Latin Morsus Gallinæ (" Bite of the hens "), the poultry of the farm courses being eager for this plant.

Flowering is distributed over almost all year round. TheInflorescence is a Cyme Bipare which carries flowers of 4 to 6 mm, composed of 5 petals Bifids, White, of the same length as the Sepales. The species, Hermaphrodite, has a Androcea composed of 3 to 8 stamens at Anthers Rose-Rougeâtre, then Brown. Protandrie promotes a Pollinization Entomogame. The fruit is a oval capsule ovale exceeding the chalice, containing many flattened, brown or black seeds. The dissemination of the seeds is Barochore.

The plant practices NYCTINASTIE : the flower opens in the morning and closes completely in the evening ; It does the same in wet or very cloudy weather. NYCTINASTIE has a positive impact on growth, but can, through the process ofExaptation, play a role of Defense against herbivores at night, knowing that the main consumers of these Flowers, slugs and deer, are especially active at night.

This is one of the best Salads Savages : soft, non -bitter and containing calcium, silica, magnesium, Vitamin C. In Japan, it is part of the traditional salad at the start of the year : the 7 herbs salad (see the festival of Nanakusa-No-Sekku). It is also consumed in soup (for example chopped and mixed with water, olive oil, garlic and potatoes), integrated into pancake pasta or Smoothies 15 and pranks of Ravioli16. The stems become more stringent with age.

You can also consume your tiny seeds.

Traditional pharmacopoeia, especially Asian and Indo-European, have attributed to it- as well as Holosted stellar -many properties
