ThePalm maple (Acer Palmatum), or Smooth Japanese maple, is an indigenous species in China, in Korea, at Japan and at Taiwan1. It belongs to the family of Sapindaceae and in the Palmata section of Classification of maplers. This species of tree is often planted in gardens for its varied shapes and colors. Its vernacular name Smooth Japanese maple, comes from the characteristic form strongly cut out of its leaves and from the geographic origin of its classification by Naturalist Swedish, Carl Peter Thunberg during a trip to Japan.
