The dried root is used in Chinese medicine under the name of 黄芩 (Huáng Qín)4 to combat fever and lung and liver affections. It is antiviral and antioxidant. Finally, it destroys in vivo of cancer cells and, in mice, slows down the growth of different types of tumors5.
