Achyranthes Bidentata is a kind of flower plant of the Amaranthaceaefamily, originally from a large part of Asia. Its root provides a common medical material used in China for at least two millennia.

Achyranthes Bidenta is a perennial herbaceous plant from 70 to 120 CM high. The stems are sometimes green tinged with red, angled, pubescent4.

The leaves, opposite, carried by a petiole of 0.5 to 3 CM, Hairy, includes an elliptical or elliptical-lanceolate blade, 4.5–12 CM Long on 2–7.5 CM, Pubescent, based Cuneiform.

Inflorescence is an EPR ESP Terminal or axillary of 3–5 CM long, densely carrying flowers of 5 MM. The flower is underpinned by BRACTEOLS reflected after the anthèse, largely oval, of 2–3 MM, Apex acumine, thorny. The Tepals are brilliant, lanceolate, with median rib and acute apex4.

This species is one of the most used Chinese medicinal plants. Known since Antiquity under the name of NIUXI 牛膝 " cow knee ", it continues to be cultivated for its root appreciated as medicinal material in Medicine traditional Chinese.

The plant is harvested in winter when the stems and leaves are withered, its root is removed, dried with sulfuric smoke, stored.
