Phyllanthus emblem, amla, redcurrant is a tropical tree with deciduous and wild leaves known for its edible fruits and its ornamental qualities of pale gray and fluffy foliage with adult height about 18 m. The leaves resemble ferns, oblong, but narrow, up to 2 cm and the flowers are discreet, because they are green in color. The flowers are bisexed and appear in clusters. The fruits are smaller in size with a diameter up to 3 cm, greenish yellow in color that turns orange -brown after maturity. The flesh is tart, juicy and crunchy. All parts of the tree are useful, its leaves, its roots, its fruits, its seeds, its bark and its flowers.
