Rosier Rugueux, or Rosier du Japan (Rosa Rugosa Thunb., 1784), in Japanese Hamanasu (ハマナス, 浜茄子, or 浜梨, literally " Aubergine de Rivage " or " Pear de Rivage »), is a species of Rosiers classified in Section of Cinnamomeae, originally fromExtreme-East (North-East of China, Japan, Korea and South-East of Siberia), where it grows On the Côtes, often in the Dunes.

This Botanical rose is a shrub Drageonant which emits new stems from the strain and forms dense thickets from 1 to 1.5 meter high.
The stems are densely covered with numerous straight and short spikes (3 to 10 mm long). The Leaves, from 8 to 15 CM Long, are impariated composed of 5 to 9 leaflets (most often seven), each leaflet A 3 to 4 CM Long and clearly wavy and rough faces, hence the name of the species.
The flowers are pleasantly scented, white with dark pink, with a diameter of 6 to 9 CM, with a little crumpled petals ; Flowering spreads from summer to fall (from June to September in the northern hemisphere). The rough roses is therefore one of the rare wild roses.
The fruit are quite large (2 at 3 CM in diameter) and often with a length below the diameter, and not elongated like most other romants. They are edible and filled with a hundredAkenes. The leaves generally turned into shiny yellow in autumn before falling.
Rosa Rugosa is widely used as ornamental plant in particular on the side of the roads (or even highways) because it requires almost no maintenance and supports salting winter.
In Japan and in China, where it has been cultivated for a thousand years, it is used by suavely fragrant flowers to make Pots-Pourris.
