Stewartia pseudocamellia, also known as Korean Stewartia1, Japanese Stewartia, or Camelia with deciduous leaves, is a tree of family of Theaceae, Originally of Japan (South of Honshū, Kyūshū, Shikoku) and Korea.

It is called Natsutsubaki ( ナツツバキ , "Summer Camellia") in Japanese2 and Nogaknamu ( 노각 나무 , "Overripe Cucumber Tree") in Korean3.

TheLatin epithet  specific Pseudocamellia refers to the resemblance of its flowers with those of Camélia4.

It is a tree with deciduous leaves small to medium size, reaching 10 to 15 m high (it rarely exceeds 18 m) 5,6. It often has several trunks or low branched trunks. The pink, red-brown and gray bark, is of smooth texture and is designed as the subject ages. The trees are pyramidal or rounded with dark green foliage. Young trunks have a zigzag shape with flattened and diverging buds. The leaves are between 4 and 12cm long and between 2.5 and 5cm wide, arranged alternately on the stems with an elliptical shape and finely serrated edges. In the fall, the foliage becomes yellow, red or purple. The flowers are up to 8cm wide and have five petals White to Anthers Orange; They have the form of those of the Camélia which is related to it, round and dishes somewhat in the shape of a cutting. The tree flowers in summer, generally from June until the end of August. Each flower is short -lived, but there are many and open for several weeks. The fruit is a capsule brown, of triangular form with four or five angles 2,3 .
