The Gommier de Camaldoli or Gommier des Rivières or Gommier Rouge (Eucalyptus Camidulensis) is a kind of genre tree Eucalyptus found in many parts of the world but which is fromAustralia where it is widespread on the edge of rivers in the interior of the country. He takes his Latin name from the garden of Camaldoli, in the Villa Ricciardi (IT) near Naples, where he was described for the first time. It is a familiar tree on the edge of many Australian rivers. The tree provides a welcome shadow during the hot weather encountered in the center of Australia and plays an important role in stabilizing the banks by fixing the soil and limiting erosion.

It has a height of about twenty meters but it can go up to 45 m. Its bark, thick (3 cm), light, is spotted with red, gray, green and white.
It flowers from January to June in tropical zone.
It is commonly called the " widow maker " because, like theOrme, it has the capacity to lose its branches (self -evolution).
A particular variety, the "greenough" has an unusual growth, pushing horizontally as soon as it has reached a height of about 2 m.
