The Belle-de-Nuit (Mirabilis Jalapa L.), also known as Wonder of Peru, is a herbaceous plant VIVACE, from the NYCTAGINACED family, pushing both in gardens and in uncultivated environments. Originally from subtropical America, it was introduced in Europe at the end of XVIe century. It takes its name from its main characteristic, its flowers open fully at night and close in the early morning. The very easy plant plant provides from July to November an uninterrupted profusion of black seeds and it is often found to be replanting itself in the wild. Its colors which are pink, red, yellow, white and mauve can be mixed within the same flower.
In Republican calendar French, October 7 is officially called the Beauty de Nuit.
