Viscaria vulgaris , the Silène sticky ^[3] or Campion Moite , ^[4] is a flower plant of Family of Caryophyllaceae .

It is a perennial plant erected reaching 60 cm (24 in) in height. The leaves are lanceolate . The flowers, 20 mm in diameter and bright pink, appear in long verticed ears from May to August. It grows on cliffs and rocky places. ^[5] [6]

The name Latin Viscaria means "sticky" and refers to the sticky character of the stem just below the leaf joints. ^[7] English common names refer to the same characteristic.

Viscaria vulgaris is also cultivated as an ornamental garden plant. In British horticultural literature, it is often designated by its synonym Lychnis Viscaria . The cultivar 'splendens plena', a form with double flowers, won the price of merit of the Jardin de la Royal Horticultural Society . ^[8] [9]
